Educating the Future is Now!

Social networks are not bad tools to use. They have become means of reaching out to millions of readers and commentators. The world has finally become a small village where people can chat, react, comment on issues that touch them, and also post ideas. What is amazing is that some opinions concur while others clash. What is so interesting with social networks is how people react very fast to opinions. This weblog is interested in discussing law and technology.
Meanwhile I appreciate the information and communication technology of the present time, there is a lot we need to know. Not all information we get is useful. Some information make us desparate and fearful. Some people post horrible things and personal lives that look scaring. Some consumers fall victims of such blogs and social network websites. Imagine how many videos are posted without any proper consideration of the contents? And who is doing all this? Who are the people blogging and sending all sorts of messages? What is the age of the bloggers? How many gossips and rumours are out there? How many people use google searches to get certain information? This is the age we are living in. We are a washed of information that is not filtered or censured by any authority. The citizenship of bloggers is very difficult to establish.
There are cameras everywhere. Most of mobile handsets and pocketable mini recorders are out there and young people use them for various purposes. We live in an era in which we can hardly be honest. People reputations are violated adversely by social media network. There are abusive posts. People use ICT gadgets to abuse those they do not like, or friends who part ways use it to send insultive messages. This is a problem. Gossip online is becoming common and problematic. Attacks on individual privacy are becoming too frequent than expected. Some bloggers use the gadget to express their stress. Some use it to defame others or incite communities. This is becoming a new legal problem.
Technology is not bad. What is not correct is the use people make of it. Wrong and illegal use will make the use of technology bad.
It is urgent that young persons should be taken through moral use of technology. It is urgent to take school students through beneficial use of free flow of information. But letting things go the way they do is not correct. Some use images of others in illegal way. There is serious problem of freedom. Some people use social networks for shaming others. This is a serious problem. Certain cultures prohibit certain behaviour and jokes. Libertarian approach, or hands-off approach is not the right one and is not the solution. The authoritarian approach is equally bad. Attempts to pass law to restrict social network websites. Even this approach is not very effective. It stifles freedom of speech and freedom of opinion.
Privacy and free speech must be balanced. They are both important. It is important to invigorate privacy talks in this case. Invading people’s privacy. Having too many laws are not the answer but to educate people on law and ethics of social communication.
