Matatu culture in Nairobi and its persistence

Loud music, rough drive and decorations define matatus in Nairobi. Whoever wants to move fast due to time should choose matatu. Whoever is afraid and has phobia for loud music and supersonic speed should not attempt. Inside is well decorated with images of world celebrities. Inside is like a discoteque. It has hard to dose off while driven in the matatu. Drivers even enjoy it when they get to bumpy roads with pot-holes. The worst comes when it is dark. All sorts of coloured lights that make passengers blind. However, watch-out your wallet and perhaps your iphone. Many passengers lose such precious goods without any mercy inside matatu. But who cares? Life moves on. If you don’t like it, step out and walk.
