There is so much we don’t know in this part of Kenya. Those who live near lake Victoria are now faced with a dramatic situation. Water that has been serving them economically is now covered by water hyacinth weed. It is a plant that grows in water. It drains the water rapidly while making the use of such water difficult for fishermen.

At Nyamware beach, this is what I found. The river inlet is also suffocated by the bad weed. My question is, what is so difficult for the government to declare war against the weed? What makes it so difficult for authorities to get rid of this bad weed and enable people to go on with their livelihood? This is a quiz and I expect an answer from readers.

Kisumu County has put in place so many plans that are not implemented. What is holding the County Government back? Who can suggest something? It is a question of new ideas. The bad weed can be destroyed if there is will to do so1
